In 1916, the inside of the American home looked vastly different – no televisions
or computers, no central air conditioning, and no built-in ovens or refrigerators. It
was due to the brilliance of great innovators that today's homes feature many
luxuries that now are taken for granted – innovators like William E. Cranston, who
in 1916 founded Thermador, a company that over the last century has redefined,
reshaped and reignited inspiration for the design and function of today's kitchens
for the culinary enthusiast, and shows no signs of slowing down. A testament to
both Cranston's and the company's impact, in 1989 Cranston was inducted into
the National Kitchen & Bath Association Hall of Fame, and is credited with
launching the kitchen design industry.
