January / February 2016 4 I love the holidays! There is so much going on and there is a combination of excitement and anxiety at any given time. Everyone has so much to do and things to take care of that it has us all running around making our selves crazy. However, at the core, we all know that we are doing the many rituals and traditions for good reason. All these traditions are what make the events so good. We have expectations for these traditions, whatever they may be that establish the events. These are the things that we talk about and expect to create the good times or even help us through the tough times. As the years roll by, we tend to embrace the traditions more over time. Another thing about traditions is that they get handed down to make sure they continue. It may be something that one never wanted to be involved in or it could be that people have waited their turn to keep the traditions alive. It takes a lot of work to make these traditions work and carry on into future generations. Being members in the Porsche Club is a family of people who have common likes, specifically very cool German cars and we love to talk about those cars and definitely drive the Porsches. These families of Porsche owners have had many traditions handed down to us since the founding of this Club over fifty years ago. These traditions have made this club unique and special to all of us. One of those traditions that people from other regions find hard to believe is that we have a breakfast every Saturday morning. When you talk to someone from another region about this weekly event, they always say that there is no way their club would do that. We know and see the friendships that are built on these breakfast gatherings and it is something special to us all. Another very special tradition is our annual gathering in January to have the Changing of the Guard event; this is to recognize outgoing board members and welcome new incoming board members. The people who follow the tradition are what makes this club work as they volunteer their time to attend board meetings and to work on projects to make the many events over the year a success. That tradition keeps this long standing club going strong. From where I view things, this club continues to grow year after year. Embrace the traditions of the club and join in the fun as we start another year in 2016. - Tim PRESIDENT'S COLUMN By Tim Bubniak What A Great Year!
