T
his year witnessed a flurry of contemporary style kitchen designs with a
highly functional yet minimalist look. Integrated appliances, deluxe pull-outs
and organization products, LE D lighting, and sleek, textured finishes stood
out as common elements in the winning designs. As for baths, a play on patterns,
floating ceilings, freestanding tubs, and a sense of drama were some of the many
elements that made a statement.
This year's winners have touched on a number of themes including Arts & Crafts
Heritage, Lakehouse Living, Classic Vintage, European Flair, Theatrics, and more,
all while catering to the present-day sensibilities of their clients. Each project
evokes a different mood and ambience—ranging from high drama to complete
serenity—kindling a unique reaction to the character of the space as defined by the
designers.
Chosen by an expert panel of NKBA-certified designers, the winning projects
will go on to serve as exemplary spaces that will set the trends for the year ahead.
