March / April 2016 18 clean and wax the wheels and condition the rubber before putting them on your car. If you are using the same tires and wheels, you can wait and clean them when you wash the car. Be sure to check your air pressure. Power wash the undercarriage and fender wells of your Porsche. I suggest taking your car to a manual car wash for this. Wear some old clothes, because getting the underbody of the car clean will require you to lay on the floor of the car wash. Using the soap setting, start by cleaning out the fender wells one at a time. You will want to spend some time with the fender wells removing all the salt and road film from them. After all four fender wells are clean, set the car wash to rinse and rinse all four wells. Reset the car wash back to soap and start cleaning the undercarriage of the car. You will have to lay on the floor to get under the car. Wash the front and back first; then move to the sides. You will want to clean the exhaust system and coil springs thoroughly and then make sure to clean every part of the under carriage you can see. After cleaning the undercarriage with soap, turn the car wash to rinse and thoroughly rinse the underbody of the car. Wash the exterior of your car. You can finish washing the car at the car wash or take your car home and clean it by hand. Start with your wheels and tires first, so you don't blow the dirt from them onto a freshly clean Porsche. Always clean from top to bottom moving the dirt down when you wash your car. Once you are finish washing the car, move it to a dry place out of the sun and dry it down. Polish and wax your Porsche. You're still not finished; it is time to polish and wax the car. Not only will waxing the car put a good protective surface on your Porsche, using a good polish will remove any debris and contaminates left on the paint. Polishing your car's paint will also remove any small marks and scratches that you may picked up over the winter.
