With the hybrid there is a mileage gain, but the ad-
ditional $20,000 would buy a lot of gasoline.
My conclusions are now offered. Both brands
deliver high quality modes of transportation, but at
what cost, both up front and in the future. Home
charging stations and possible battery replacement
in seven or eight years will be on the menu. As
government EPA regulations tighten around the
world, electric or some other form of propulsion
will be the norm. At some point in time, perhaps
only on You Tube or at race tracks where vintage
race cars gather, will we still be able to hear the
roar of a combustion engine and smell burnt fos-
silized fuel.
Now I understand why my grandfather always got
tears in his eyes when we would visit horse farms
up near Carrolton, Missouri. For him, the sound of
hooves galloping across the pasture and the smell
of horse manure brought back great memories. So
some day I may share a similar experience when I
see and hear an old Porsche at Rennsport.
Here's hoping to see you on the road, in a Porsche.
