March / April 2016 6 EDITOR'S COLUMN By Stan Thorne Of T-Shirts, Letters, & Forums PORSCHE PASSION I am continually amazed at how much I enjoy the camaraderie of the PCA and how fun it is to share my passion with other passionate Porsche people. Recently I received the attached letter (email) after last month's publication went live. I am always excited to get feedback, or to know that someone is actually reading this. Turns out the gentleman who checked Fred and my wristbands before we could get onto the race track read my article. He was the friendly voice. What a small world! From Kansas City to Monterey, to Maryland and all points in between, we are all connected by Porsche. I find lots of other connections on some of the Porsche chat forums. I'm sure you have heard of Rennlist or Pelican Parts just to name a few. They are great places to ask questions, find parts, look for your next car... or even find a GHOST! I digress, just recently I submitted a design I did of Ghost Rider to BlipShift. BlipShift.com is a T-shirt company with some very funny, cool, and often tongue- in-cheek merchandise. They must have liked my Ghost Rider design because they picked it to grace the front of one of their T-shirts. How cool is that? Back to the GHOST. I was on Rennlist and 'boo' I saw a posting of my design in one of the forums. The poster was sharing 'his find' of a cool T-shirt. I posted a few thoughts and complimented BlipShift. (They really are nice guys!) Several others posted also saying they were ordering T-shirts. This internet thing really is making it a small world. But for now, I think I will turn off, unplug and go for a drive... in my new T-shirt. - STAN Letter TO THE EDITOR Stan, Happy New Year. I was recently reading the No- vember / December issue of Der Sportwagen and came across your Editor's Column about Rennsport Reunion. As I read through the article I was becoming more and more anxious to find out if you were going to make it in time for the parade laps. Then I realized the "friendly voice" telling you, "Can't let you on the track without your wrist- bands and waivers signed." was me! I was volunteering to help stage cars for the parade laps that day and remember you pulling into line and having to give you the bad news. I am happy that you were able to sign the waiver, get your wrist bands and still make the parade laps. I hope you and Fred had a wonderful time at RRIV, and I hope to see you at the next Rennsport Reunion. Aaron Aaron B. Ambrosino Porsche Club of America National Treasurer
