32 SMOKESHOP February 2016 I t's only fitting that after moving its headquarters in 2011 from Stamford, Conn. to Pinellas Park, Fla. in the shad- ows of the country's former cigar manu- facturing capital of Tampa, Davidoff of Geneva U.S.A. would take steps to raise its profile in the Tampa Bay area with a high-profile flagship store. Even for a company that has ushered in an era of un- precendented expansion and global de- sign themes with new stores and lounges, the Davidoff of Geneva Since 1901 Tampa store has broken new boundaries. Located in the MetWest International Retail Village—a 32-acre mixed-use de- velopment in the heart of Tampa's West- shore Business District—the 5,000 square foot store is the largest Davidoff flagship store in the world, and is also the compa- ny's first licensed flagship shop outside of Las Vegas. The spacious Davidoff-brand- ed facility is a partnership with Jeff and Tanya Borysiewicz, the husband-and- wife owners and operators of Orlando- based Corona Cigar Company, which also owns and operates the new Tampa store. "The 'Cigar City' of Tampa has a long and storied history with cigars," said Jeff Borysiewicz, president and founder of Corona Cigar Co., who, from the initial announcement a year ago, promised an "ultimate cigar experience." "This great community deserves a world-class cigar destination where all are welcome to enjoy cigars and spirits with family and friends," he added. Retail operations began in Decem- ber, while the full-service bar—which had been awaiting its liquor license— came online in mid-February. A grand opening reception was slated for the end of the month. The entire interior of the shop is hu- midified, featuring premium cigar re- tail space, multiple indoor and outdoor lounges, two different private humidor locker areas, an elegant full-service bar serving premium alcoholic beverages, and a conference area. Building upon Tanya Borysiewicz's successful efforts sourcing many hard-to- find spirits for Corona Cigar's three Orlan- do-area retail locations, the bar at Davidoff Tampa, Florida World's Largest Davidoff of Geneva Store Opens Spacious "destination" stores are becoming the new standard for the industry's top cigar makers; the latest Davidoff B&M location fuses a cigar bar, lounge, and retail store with sleek style.
