It was hard not to notice Kim Thompson at the Events Center grand opening reception.
Standing at 6 feet 7 inches tall, the former CMU men's basketball center towered over most people attending the gathering to celebrate the new facility.
But getting formally recognized there and later during the fi rst timeout of the Event Center's inaugural basketball game was the last thing this modest and loyal alumnus wanted.
