RETAILOBSERVER.COM MAY 2016 36 empowerment, education, and inspiration. The executives, Leigh Donadieu, senior accounts manager—buying groups for Electrolux Corporation, Carol Campbell, vice president of NAPCO Media and founder of Women in Consumer Technology, Elizabeth Door, vice president of North America-Global Strategic Sourcing at Whirlpool Corporation, and Dawn Secklinger, head of talent & leadership management at LG Electronics, spoke to a packed house of BrandSource members. Moderated by Anitra Brase, guests shared their take on staying true to your 'word' or your 'story', the resources on how to connect and network with other individuals in your industries, how to build up your leadership teams, statistics on how women are taking over male-dominated industries all over the world, and how to successfully build your teams and bridge gaps in industries. The Summit's educational seminars were punctuated by several awards presentations where BrandSource members were honored for their individual commitment during the past year. Rick Caldwell of Oldfield's Inc., Michael Dal Pozzo of Dick Van Dyke Appliance World, and Frank Switalski of Don's Appliances earned the 2015 BrandSource Salesperson of the Year awards. Also honored were Leigh Donadieu, who took home the Women in Business TrailBlazer award and BrandSource regional manager Chad Evans who won the Premium Player award. Although the three-day Expo provided a generous amount of business- related activities, it also offered members a chance to relax, socialize and enjoy the friendly environment. Plenty of fun distractions were planned for them to do just that. The Young Professionals group hosted a successful game night, which boasted no lack of networking as well as numerous applications to BrandSource University. In addition to game night, they hosted a 5K Run/ Walk to support Disabled American Veterans. Marc Fisher, from Origin Acoustics, won 1st place in the men's competition with a time of 21:17 while McKenzie Colby, representing Dan's Appliances, won the women's with a 22:13 time. The 5K ended up raising $4,000 all donated to the Disabled American Veterans. The Expo also offered a golfing alternative to its members. The Butch DuBose Golf Tournament was held on Sunday to much fanfare. For their female member- ship, the Expo featured the Women in Business Lounge. The lounge, which was open Tuesday during show floor hours, offered a place for women to recharge and relax in a serene environment. The Lounge offered complimentary manicures and mini massages. A champagne & desserts reception was also held in the evening celebrating working women in all industries. Other members took home big-ticket items in the Expo's raffle giveaways. John Ridgely, from Ridgely-Arrow Industries, won the Expert Warehouse 77" TV, valued at $25,000, while Don Hillebrand, of Don's Appliances, won a brand new Ford pick-up truck in the Whirlpool Ford Truck Giveaway. The success of this year's Summit was in keeping with previous offerings in which the company essentially demonstrates its gratitude to its members for their hard work and dedication to the BrandSource name. The BrandSource Fall Convention will be held in Las Vegas in August. RO ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR
