March / April 2016 22 CLUB RACE CO-CHAIRMAN By Bob Wayman The Track Rat Update GAINING MOMENTUM Attention Track Rats: Below is a message from Joey Todd from the World Racing League concerning a new program that they are working on at RPM (former- ly MAM). Dear Bob, I appreciate everyone's interest and assistance. As Ryan mentioned, we've of- fered to set up Momentum as a track-resident program for RPM, to help them fill open dates, build interest in mo- torsports in that region, and to help generate some capi- tal improvement funds for the road course. Momentum is patterned after the pro- gram we've been operating for Texas World the past 5 years, so it's not exactly new, just an extension. The TWS program has a lot of cross- over with PCA, NASA and BMW drivers, and we've de- veloped a lot of instructors that also work with Chin, Track Guys and Driver's Edge. We're excited to be work- ing with Ross Bentley to revise current, and develop new curriculum for the pro- gram. The dates are April 23- 24. We are extending online registration through April 20. Register online at World Racing Leagues site at www.racewrl.com/schedule Note that we will have the Momentum-branded website and registration system up after this first event. We need drivers, novices and instructors. Instruc- tors get free track time at the event for their time, and we try to keep a 1:1 instruc- tor/student ratio. Here is a quick blurb about the pro- gram, please share as much as possible: "Momentum Performance Driving Academy is the performance driver educa- tion arm of World Racing League.Momentum is open to all drivers interested in road course events, from Novice to the most experi- enced racer/DE driver. Momentum divides drivers into 5 different run groups based on skill and speed to keep things safe and low stress. Novice students spend the weekend with an instruc- tor in the right seat, showing them the ins and outs of per- formance driving in a safe, controlled environment, un- til they are ready to go solo. More experienced drivers and racers in the Solo run groups can participate in up to 8 track sessions per day, giving advanced drivers 5 to 6 hours of track time per weekend! Momentum is operated by motorsports professionals who have years of experi- ence in both the racing and HPDE segments of track- based motorsports. The focus is on safety, but the weekends are all about fun, comradery and skill devel- opment" Thanks, Joey Todd World Racing League America's Best Amateur Endurance Racing 800-377-0944 www.RaceWRL.com Facebook and Twitter: RaceWRL I will keep you updated if any further information developes on this topic. - BOB
