On Jan. 20, Memphis opened the 2012 season with a 4-3 win at No. 13 Tennessee, a victory that vaulted the Tigers into the top 50 of the ITA Rankings. The U of M spent the final 15 weeks of the season in the poll, reaching a program-best No. 30 on March 20. The 15 weeks in the rankings is also a program record, surpassing the 11 weeks spent in the polls during the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
The Tigers had a trio of players ranked in singles throughout the season, sophomore David O'Hare and freshmen Connor Glennon and David O'Leary. A pair of doubles teams, O'Hare and Joe Salisbury and Glennon and David Henry, spent several weeks in the doubles rankings.
