July / August 2016 4 I s it just me, or is the world getting more complicated every day? We have the wonderful situation of having so many options that are all good or even great, but so often how do you pick? If you go into a paint store, you see how many shades of white that are available. Are all these choices making our lives better, or do they just put us into overload? This issue is something that we all deal with in all aspects of our lives. When it comes to cars, these same issues come into play. We continue to have such diversity of types of cars, trucks, mini vans, SUV's, crossover vehicles, electric powered cars, hybrids, diesel or gasoline powered. Many people want their car to make a statement of who they are or at least who they want to be. So many choices; and that is a wonderful thing for car enthusiasts. When deciding on buying a sports car, is there another choice that can match what Porsche brings to the table? Just think about the quality of the Porsche cars. Consider the performance levels from Porsche. Think of the long time dominance in professional racing that Porsche has delivered for decades. The most current example of that is what happened at Le Mans this year, with a late win due to another competitor having turbocharger issues to lose their position. From a styling position, Porsche is an iconic builder producing not only comfortable and safe vehicles, but also gorgeous vehicles. They are truly rolling art. Now I am not about to say that Porsche is the only builder of great looking cars or fast or safe cars, as there are all kinds of other brands that deliver excellent performance. BMW has had some really compelling cars over the years and will continue to do so going forward. The American manufacturers have come a long way with their performance and sports cars. The new Corvettes have made giant strides in that vehicle and they deliver a lot for the money. There clearly is a new muscle car era underway with great looks and performance such as Camaro, Boss Mustang, Dodge Challenger . They will never be confused with Porsches, but they are fun cars in their own right. Porsche stands on a high pedestal in the car world, and that is why we love them. That is not knocking any other kind of car, but a Porsche is just something very special! The reality on all these options that we have in our world makes it a very interesting time for car geeks. Anyone who takes the time to go to a cars and coffee event knows how many interesting cars are out there and that is a good thing and exactly how I like it. More choices are all the better. In cars or anything else! - Tim PRESIDENT'S COLUMN By Tim Bubniak Decisions Decisions CHOICES & CHOICES
