Prescott A Historic Past That Lives On! The spectacular scenery of cool pines, rolling hills, numerous lakes, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets are some of the many reasons to visit Prescott, Arizona. But, in its true es- sence, it is the colorful history, art and culture, museums, unique courthouse square shops, fine dining–mixed with the contrast of the historic downtown's whiskey row–that keeps visitors com- ing back time and time again. It is this essence of Prescott that offers some in- triguing travel adventures with a bonus feature of its great outdoors! If it is the awe-inspiring vision of Prescott's landscape that is your calling, then you have a choice of five sparkling clear lakes that provide opportunities for boating, sailing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. More than 450 miles of scenic trails surround the lakes and offer great opportunities for rock climbing, hiking, biking or horseback riding. And, if golf- ing is your passion, there are five golf courses that contrast with the mountain scenery, rolling hills and pine covered forest. If you enjoy the arts and culture, then there's no better place than where "His- tory Lives On" to explore Prescott and its more than 800 historic buildings and Victorian style homes. Take a day and enjoy a historic walking tour where you will discover the Sharlot Hall and Smoki museums and learn about Arizona's territorial history or take a short drive to enjoy the Phippen Museum. Your path will follow where Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp once roamed while you visit some of the oldest saloons and eating estab- lishments of the famed "whiskey row". Downtown Prescott has some of the best boutiques and one-of-a-kind shops that will keep you coming back for that perfect gift. Theaters and plays are always bringing productions from local talents for your enjoyment. The entertainment venue is in full swing year round. There is Yavapai and Bucky's Casino for fun nights of non- stop action of your favorite game. The Prescott Valley Convention & Events Center is just one of the many places you can go to enjoy sports, recreational activities and a variety of entertainment in the Prescott area. The convention center is also the home of The Northern Arizona Suns, Arizona's newest basket- ball team. The convention and events center is the entertainment place for many performances by top named stars and events. Whatever interest or activity you enjoy, the communities of Prescott offer many opportunities. Whether it is going to a concert, enjoying an old west rodeo, golfing, boating, fishing or hiking, it is easy to see why people make it a frequent weekend getaway.
