11 The Metro Cruise will host a "Know Your Stuff!" workshop on Friday, August 21 at 4 pm. Presented gearhead and pin up enthusiast Kandi "Blaze" Thompson, this workshop is aimed at lady cruisers and will include information on general maintenance and motor identification, becoming familiar with the main components of a motor - block, heads, valve covers, etc.; how to physically check the oil, coolants, and transmission fluid; pointers and tips of what to look for; indicators of burnt smells, material in fluids, etc. Specializing in automotive restorations, classic cars and trucks, auto body fabrications, quality paint, pearl coats, stripes, welding, antique machinery, custom hot rods, and much more, Kandi and her husband, Thomas, operate Kandi's Kustoms Hot Rod & Restoration Shop in Ashland, Ohio. This high class custom hot rod and restoration shop can be booked solid anywhere from a month to 6 months or so in advance. An experienced auto body tech, lover of all things classic and custom cars and trucks, Kandi has spent much of her life in and around garages. Kandi grew up working in an automotive paint and supply store where she met her future husband of 16 years, Thomas Thompson. Thomas is the main tech and painter at Kandi's Kustoms, and has been offering his extreme and professional craftsmanship since 1982. With over 35 years of extreme professionalism, quality, and experience, the Thompsons' customers have come to expect the highest in quality and perfectionism. Kandi enjoys writing and attributing articles for the Cars & Cycles column in the Ashland Times Gazette, a local newspaper from her hometown. In her spare time she also enjoys singing, writing poetry and song lyrics, hiking in the woods, and above all else, drag racing and cruise ins!
