A two-time All-Metro Conference first teamer, Dave Anderson submitted one of the most impressive seasons in U of M history in 1981, hitting .395 with team highs in home runs (14) and RBI (61) as the Tigers went 48-11-1. That 1981 season was the culmination of a meteoric two-year stint at the U of M that ended with Anderson selected 22nd overall in the 1981 MLB Draſt by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He went on to enjoy 10 successful seasons in the big leagues. Anderson hit .396 in his Memphis career, second all-time to Mark Little in the modern era. Over his two years wearing the Blue and Gray, the Tigers went an incredible 52-5 at home, including a near-perfect 32-1 stretch in 1981.
