GILDERS PASTE GILDERS PASTE USES & APPLICATIONS Use Gilders Paste On: • Metal - Wrought Iron, Steel, Aluminum, Alloys, etc. • Wood - Moldings, Railings, Furniture, Gilding Restoration, Picture Frames, Mitre Joints, etc. • Ceramics - Planters, Terra Cotta, etc. • Resin - Castings, Plastic, etc. • Wax - Candles, etc. • Gourds • Ridged Foam Tips for Using Gilders Paste: • Substrate surface should be dry and clean, free of dirt, oil, grease, and scale. • Baroque Art Gilders Paste can be directly applied with your finger, sponge, paint - tooth - stencil brushes, cloth, rubber stamps, etc. • All 28 colors can be thinned out to further extend, wash, stain, or paint your project. • Blending Gilders Paste is as easy as mixing two or more colours to match and touch up existing colour schemes, or to create a custom colour. • Drying time varies depending on materials, thickness of application, and substrate, approximately 30-60 minutes to the touch on dry, low porosity, debris-free surfaces. • Lightly buffing metallic colors, after 12 hours of drying, will produce a gilded finish. • Will accept an overcoat, such as UV solvent-based stable, clear lacquer, varnish, acrylic, or clear powder coating to achieve a uniform appearance where the Gilders Paste was not used, or to provide increased durability to areas where repeated handling is required, such as a doorknob. • For very smooth surfaces, such as gloss paint, plastic, ceramics, and furniture, it is recommended to lightly abrade the surface with 0000 grade steel wool or fine sand paper, or apply a recommended primer. • Layering substrates with a solid base colour and then stenciling, sponging, or wiping another colour over base coat can produce unique effects and blends. • Polishing base coat immediately after application with a dry cloth or slightly wet with thinner will remove Gilders Paste from the relief detail and highlight depressed details. Lightly brushing Gilders Paste over the top will highlight the relief details without polishing. • By lightly buffing with a soft cloth or silk, the metallic Gilders Paste will produce a bright gilded finish, resulting in an elegant look of brass, copper, or gold accents without the tremendous expense of using these metals. • Store above 55°F (13°C). Apply above 60°F (16°C). • If you left the top off and material becomes dry, add a little paint thinner or mineral spirits, mix, and you are ready to go. This exercise will give a long shelf life. INSTRUCTIONS Apply Gilders Paste: • With finger, sponge, toothbrush, paintbrush, or cloth in a rubbing motion or use other creative mediums to produce a unique finish. • Layer on top of one another or mix to create different finishes on an endless colour palette. • Thin out with paint thinner to transform the highly concentrated Gilders Paste for brushing, sponging, staining, washing, or spray painting. • Drying time varies depending on substrate and surface preparation, approximately 60 minutes to the touch on dry, debris-free surfaces and 12 hours for complete cure time. If polishing or burnishing is required, allow 12 hours drying time. • Polishing the metallic Gilders Pastes with a soft cloth will produce a gilded finish, substituting gold, silver, bronze leaf; non-metallic pastes will be shiny. If left unpolished, the finish will be semi-gloss or mat, depending on the colour.
