Inhalation APRIL2016 24 Previewing the Inhalation & Respiratory Drug Delivery Congress 2016 The 2016 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition will be held Novem- ber 13-17 at the Colorado Conven- tion Center in Denver, CO, US. The opening session of the conference will feature the keynote presentation "Turning cell phones into inexpen- sive microscopes (CellScope) and their successful application in the field/resource-poor settings for point- of-care imaging, diagnosis and quan- tification," given by Daniel Fletcher, PhD of the University of California at Berkeley and cofounder of the med- ical device company CellScope, Inc. Following the session, an opening reception will be held on the exhibit floor. Scientific program The annual meeting will include an extensive range of scientific presen- tations in diverse formats including workshops, short courses, sunrise sessions and symposia. Presentations related to inhalation will include: • A Saturday and Sunday pre-confer- ence workshop: Bioequivalence for locally acting drug products, with a focus on inhalation products. • A Tuesday morning symposium: What's on the horizon for extracta- bles and leachables: Addressing emerging requirements. • A Tuesday morning dialogue and debate: Does the Lipinski Rule of 5 apply across various routes of delivery? • A Wednesday afternoon symposium: Establishing release testing for non- oral controlled release technologies • A Thursday morning sunrise session: 3-D printed drug delivery systems • A Thursday morning sunrise ses- sion: Bioequivalence and biowaver considerations for fixed-dose com- bination products • A Thursday morning symposium: Rules of thumb for optimizing and selecting non-orally delivered drug candidates • A Thursday morning dialogue and debate: Where to invest? The drug or the delivery system? The Inhalation and Nasal Technol- ogy Focus Group (INTFG) will also hold its annual business meeting on Tuesday, November 15, 4:00-5:00 PM in Room 405/406.
