November / December 2016 38 KCRPCA DRIVING EVENT By Bob Charlesworth Killing Cones KCRPCA AUTOCROSS T he Intensity, the Heat, the Pressure, the Sound, the smell of hot brakes/ tires…almost unbearable! OMG what is going on at Ameristar? Oh wait – it's a KCRPCA Autocross – what a blast! Rudy and his team did it once again – and a huge "thank-you" for all you all do. Ordered a beautiful day, laid out a new style fast track (did you get an "incentive" to favor the newer cars :-) ) and was able to attract about 20 cars into the "fun". Oh, and it was FUN! For all you 928, 914 & 911Turbo sport car own- ers – YOU WERE M.I.A.! Great variety of cars and age of participants. Even had a stray Fiat and Bug (Tom's son – TJ - in the Fiat and a young woman I didn't get to meet –sorry – should have seen the smiles on their fac- es!). We even had a not-yet- even-tagged Boxster partici- pate, oh so pretty. To me, it was topped off with two GT- 4's (good to see Ken back at an activity) – hope they had good wax coatings to wipe the drool off their cars from everybody lurking. So much fun to watch/hear the different cars and visit with some new people. Tom in his Cayman S was definitely back on his game after a little disappointing outing at the last event. The gantlet was thrown down early and the members just had fun learning the track and getting better each run. Melany kept the ladies well represented, and Dave had his Targa doing a 360 get- ting my creative lap award – he can handle a car for sure. And for you all that follow my son Kyle and I in the 993
