November / December 2016 8 EDITOR'S COLUMN By Stan Thorne Stop And Look Around YOU COULD MISS IT L ife moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around for a while you could miss it. - Ferris Bueller. I do try to take advantage of the little things in life that can make you happy; ice cold milk and Oreo cookies, a walk with my dog, and when a daughter says "daddy, do you want to go for a drive?" I try to stop. I didn't have time to stop. The day was ending. I still needed to make dinner. But, time with my little girls is something I do not want to miss. I got my keys. Ten minutes later we were gliding along the back roads of Kansas, windows down and the car's exhaust note rising and falling with each shift. We found ourselves on the twisties of Mission road, a favorite of mine. I'm glad I stopped for a while to look around. I'm also glad I stopped to look and see how I could help the KCRPCA. Being on the board has just extended my enjoyment of the club. Meeting once a month to plan the club's drives, social gatherings, and just think of fun things we can do with our cars is fun. I'm glad I stop and make time for the club. I was hesitant to stop and look to see how I could help as your editor of the Der Sportwagen. I'm glad I did. I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed producing it. Next year I am stopping to make the time be President. And you know, I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure my two years will go quick. Stopping to enjoy this club is easy. I'm amazed how many Porsche owners I meet say, "Yah, I keep meaning to join." I tell them all we do, invite them to breakfast, and hope they show. You, however, have taken the time to stop and join the club. I hope you are having a great time with fellow club members. Have you thought about being on the board? We would love to have you. We have 4 elected positions opening up next year. We have other positions that open up all the time. If you have an interest in helping with the club, just let us know. I'd encourage you to stop and look to see how you can help.
