Gafill says. "But you feel compelled to act.
Offering the prints is my way of saying, 'How can
I help?' I chose the CPOA because I want every
penny to go immediately into service."
Two major immediate needs that those funds
support are clearing up the huge amount of
garbage left behind by burned down homes and
preparing the land for rain.
"A high percentage of homeowners did not
have insurance, because it's difficult for them to get
in that area," Gafill explains. "Professional artist
Melissa Lofton lost her home and studio in the fire,
and there was a big outpouring of support for her.
Carmel Bay Company donated sales from her art-
work and took no commission."
