in Carmel Valley

A
t Victorian Bird Homes and Patio Art,
every inch of wall and shelf space reveals
a humorous or decorative item.
Signs spor t slogans like: "If a man says he will
fix it, he will. There is no need to remind him
every 6 months;" and "Friends don't let friends
wine alone."
Weather vanes, bird feeders, garden bells,
wind chimes, ornaments, stools, gift items and
more spill out from the shop and onto the
deck outside.
But the highlights of the shop are the intricate
Victorian birdhouses and mailboxes created by
owners Bruce and Angie Looram. Bruce, a gen-
eral contractor, crafts each miniature building
out of redwood on location, with elements such
as copper roofing.
Angie paints all the birdhouses, which include
replicas of people's homes that owners proudly
put on display.
"I fall in love with these houses as I paint
them," Angie says. "Originally I had a hard time
parting with them. It's gotten a little easier."
The shop is located at 7164 Carmel Valley
Road, in the Valley Hills Center, across from Baja
Cantina restaurant in Carmel Valley. For more infor-
mation, go to www.victorianbirdhomes.com or call
