Memphis boasts two victories against top-25 opponents. The Tigers defeated No. 22/24 Ohio State in a season-opening tournament in 2011 at the FIU Combat Classic, 7-3. Later that season, the U of M shocked No. 16/17 Stanford in its home opener, 2-1. The win at Stanford was the first by a C-USA team at a Pac-12 opponent in regular-season play. Memphis also defeated Kentucky, 3-2, in 2011 a few days before the Wildcats entered the national rankings and later advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals.
