This year's La Route des Etalons takes place on January 21 and 22.

A car is essential for getting to and from the many farms spread
far and wide across the region. Driving from England is easy via
either the Eurotunnel from Folkestone to Calais followed by a lei-
surely drive of less than four hours to Deauville, or the ferry from
Portsmouth to Caen, which is 30 minutes from Deauville.
If you're flying in from elsewhere, it's best to aim for the Charles
de Gaulle airport in Paris. If you don't wish to hire a car there, it's
a two-hour train ride from Paris's Gare St Lazare direct to Deau-
ville and transport throughout the weekend will be arranged by the
