The U.S. Women's National Team will look to upend archrival Canada and reclaim the title at the 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship. Waterloo To Carry USHL Flag Into International Battle The Waterloo Black Hawks, a finalist for the 2012 Clark Cup, will represent the United States Hockey League in this year's IIHF Junior Club World Cup Tournament from Aug. 18-26 in Omsk, Russia. This will be the first time a USHL club will participate in the tournament, now in its second year. The tournament will feature 10 of the top Junior teams from around the world, including Belarus, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Russia and Sweden. "This promises to be a great hockey tournament, and just as importantly, an extraordinary travel and educational experience for the players," said USHL Commissioner Skip Prince. "We're thrilled." Leading the Black Hawks on the ice will be 2012 NHL draft picks Zach Stepan (Nashville Predators/4th round) and Vince Hinostroza (Chicago Blackhawks/6th round) as well as the 2011-12 USHL Rookie of the Year Taylor Cammarata. "This is an opportunity to give our players a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Waterloo head coach and the 2011 USHL General Manager of the Year P.K. O'Handley. "I look forward to using these games and this trip to not only make a better hockey team for the 2012-13 season, but to help advance the development of our players as young men." Women's Worlds Return To Ottawa In 2013 T returns to Ottawa, Ontario for the first time since Canada's capital city hosted the first event in 1990. The U.S. squad saw its gold-medal streak snapped at three after Canada captured its 10th IIHF title with a 5-4 overtime victory in Burlington, Vt. Brookings, S.D., Preparing For A Blizzard The North American Hockey League board of governors has approved the relocation of the Alexandria Blizzard from Alexandria, Minn., to Brookings, S.D., for the upcoming 2012-13 season. The renamed Brookings Blizzard will compete in the NAHL's Central Division, and will play its home games in the Larson Ice Center, a two-rink facility that is owned and operated by the City of Brookings.
