RETAILOBSERVER.COM JANUARY 2017 62 H ello, my name is Sarah Brown, and I am the new Executive Director of United Servicers Association. It was a pleasure meeting many of you at USA's annual Appliance Service Training Institute in San Diego; for those I did not have the opportunity to meet, I hope to meet you in the near future. I look forward to successfully leading United Servicers into the future as I follow in the footsteps of Mr. Paul MacDonald, and his fourteen-year legacy of leadership in the organization. We are collectively elated about the new energy, ideas, and skills that I hope to bring to United Servicers Association. With over ten years of experience in organizing, both nationally and regionally for MSA, as well as private and corporate events in St. Louis, my experience will allow USA to continue on and expand its near quarter-century of training & development for all of our current and future members. I hope to complement USA's mission in developing and providing services and programs intended to assist members with building and maintaining strong businesses in North America and Canada's competitive environments. I received my Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Aside from my time in Minnesota, I have been a lifelong resident of the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. In 2006, I began my career in the appliance parts industry in the Marketing Department at Marcone Supply. While there I assumed responsibility for running the Marcone Servicers Association (MSA), planning trainings, events, and conventions. Following my departure from Marcone, I was the Director of Marketing and Events at The Inns at St. Albans for five years. The Inns was comprised of three properties holding over 120 events a year. While there I handled all aspects of Marketing, (print media, advertising, web, television, etc.) as well as event planning, (from the initial contact, to the planning and execution), as well as follow up after the event. I was responsible for all varieties of events such as small business meetings, weddings and corporate meetings. In my free time I enjoy hiking, baking, planning parties & crafting, as well as 'playing' chauffeur. I have a 10-year-old daughter, Addie, who is in the fifth grade. She plays volleyball and basketball, is in Girl Scouts, and takes dance lessons, hence the chauffeuring between practices, games, meetings, and events! I love having my hands full with planning everything from regional training events to holiday parties, and everything in between; from the beginning stages all of the way to fruition. Since joining United Servicers Association in April 2016, I've learned so much from the board, and look forward learning so much more. I am excited to work hand in hand with the Board of Directors, grow USA membership, listen to the needs and wants of the association, and work with manufacturers and distributors to keep developing essential programs to help improve the industry.
