Green Thumb Healing Gardening and creatively interacting with flowers and plants is very therapeutic . The fall and holiday months can be especially difficult to cope with while living with cancer. The Green Thumb Healing program offers activities that inspire fun, support learning and healing. The program is open to anyone impacted by cancer. The program will include developing an indoor herb garden, food demonstrations, the creation of seasonal floral arrangements and creative holiday crafts activities. Free - No Registration Required The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital Meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month, Sept. - Dec., 9:30 - 11 am Look Good... Feel Better Look Good... Feel Better is presented in partnership with the American Cancer Society, Personal Care Products Council Foundation, Professional Beauty Association, and National Cosmetology Association. This free program teaches beauty techniques to women or girls who are actively undergoing cancer treatment to help combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Come learn tips for skin care, makeup, hair care and wigs. All participants receive a free kit of cosmetics. (Valued up to $200.) Free - Registration Required The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital Sept. 24, 4 - 6 pm Nov. 5, 4 - 6 pm Dec. 10, 4 - 6 pm Caring for the Caregiver If you are a spouse, partner, family member or person caring for someone living with cancer, join us in our continued series that explores the challenges faced by caregivers to learn new insights, practical steps and effective coping strategies around the unique issues experienced by caregivers. Join us for the opportunity to share your experiences and hear from others about wisdom and lessons learned to keep going while caring for a loved one with cancer. Box lunch provided. Free - Registration Required The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital Nov. 12, Noon - 1:30 pm CLIMB® (Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery) CLIMB® is a six week program for children ages 6 - 12 who have a parent, grandparent or loved one diagnosed with cancer. Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend the first session with their children to learn more about CLIMB® and receive information on how to support what their children will learn each week.
