Prim's Hardware and Home an Anchor Point for Carmel Shopper s B Y B R E T T W I L B U R L ocated directly across from the Barnyard Shopping Village, Prim's Hardware and Home is an upscale home goods and hardware store that boasts decades of loyal customers. After remodeling the former Brinton's store, the new owners retained most of the original employees and the helpful service that keeps the neighborhood store popular. "In 2012, after Brinton's closed down after 40-plus years, we wanted to continue that tra- dition and preserve the traditional community general store with a modern twist," says owner Wayne L. Prim, Jr. "…Over the past few years, many national big box retailers have expressed interest in this store location, but I am commit- ted to Prim's continuing long-term service to the local community. My family has been a part of this community for over 50 years." Prim, who owns the Carmel Rancho Shopping Center, also runs the Prim Family Vineyard with wife Victoria, utilizing grapes from the Santa Lucia Highlands. "At some point I will integrate a wine-tasting experience within the center," Prim says. Long-term employees and managers Joe Caliva and Tino Tanglebad emphasize outstand- ing customer service, competitive pricing and an inviting selection of merchandise to ensure repeat customers. "We try to incorporate everything," Caliva says. Prim's Hardware and Home is located at 546 Carmel Rancho Blvd. in Carmel. Call 831/620-1251 or go to www.primscarmel.com for more information.
