once you arrive in the capital city of ulaanbaatar, you're still looking at a domestic flight and eight-hour drive via land Cruiser across a yurt- and
yak-dotted steppe before finally reaching your put-in on a remote river in western Mongolia. A long way indeed, but the countryside is pleasant,
and all of that distance seems to fall away as you approach a river that you know contains the world's largest salmonid.
