CCFA programs moving forward A Letter from theDean As you flip through the following pages of our annual newsletter, you will see the College of Communication and Fine Arts has been on the move. Therefore, I will provide brief updates on a few initiatives not already mentioned in our publication. Dean Salma Ghanem While drafting this letter I hear the construction being completed on the second floor of Moore Hall. The revamping of the area will provide more office space to accommodate the growth in the college. And, just down the hall engineers are furiously pulling wire and installing equipment to complete the H.D. upgrade in the MHTV studio and control room. Both projects will be completed in time to welcome our students back to campus this fall. Mission Statement forms. Through scholarship and creativity, the college provides opportunities for students and faculty to pursue their passions, enhance their abilities and realize their potential. The college prepares students to be independent, critical thinkers, lifelong learners and successful professionals in a variety of careers through its commitment to a high-quality, comprehensive education. The College of Communication and Fine Arts believes that arts and communication are fundamental to the health, well-being and advancement of society and embraces the power of communication in all its In addition to bricks and mortar, CCFA is enhancing its academic offerings. Both an advertising major and social media certification have been developed and are ensuring our students stay ahead of the ever-changing social media trends. The universitywide Program Prioritization process has been completed and as a result funds are allocated for equipment and hiring additional faculty in our college. This was a project that required faculty and staff to complete detailed reports for each academic and service area on campus. I thank all of those individuals who dedicated many hours preparing this data-driven analysis. Sincerely, During the past academic year Associate Dean Shelly Hinck and I have enjoyed hosting student meet-and-greet sessions. These informal gatherings, spanning our five departments and three interdisciplinary programs, allowed us to interact with our students and get their input on various topics including course offerings. The talents of CCFA students continue to amaze us. We hope you can join us for Homecoming scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20. CCFA once again will host a hospitality tent before CMU's 3:30 p.m. game against Ball State University. Mark your calendars now and enjoy the weekend visiting with faculty, students, staff and alumni. We look forward to seeing you on campus. In closing, our appreciation is extended to our CCFA alumni and friends. Your support of our programs and events is invaluable. Please keep us updated on your latest successes.
