after 50 years after 50 years Ful-Vane ™ compressor in excellent condition In 1963, Fuller Company (now FLSmidth Inc.) shipped a Ful-Vane ™ compressor to Lone Star Cement in Amarillo, Texas (now Buzzi Unicem). The compressor was installed and operated from 1963 until 2013. The only maintenance required in those 50 years was a couple of blade changes. Though still running satisfactorily, the compressor was fi nally retired after 50 years of continuous service and replaced with a new Ful-Vane compressor. After being taken out of service the vintage compressor was shipped to our service center for internal inspection. The heads, rotor, and soft parts were in excellent condition, showing no wear. The compressor's cylinder bore had some very minor "washboarding" wear through the years. There were also some wear blemishes on the bore that could have been caused by a sticky blade in the rotor slot or possibly by a faulty oil check valve. There was no sign of major overhaul (machine and rebuild) to this compressor. This compressor was still in great operational condition. This compressor's 50 year service to the plant is a testament of how a great maintenance program coupled with a durable machine can provide long lasting benefi ts. "It is truly a testament to the quality of your equipment." --Mike Delcambre, Terminal Manager, Buzzi Unicem www.fl smidth.com
