"Laddie qualified and was the only red setter to compete in the U.S. Complete National Invitational Championship," Gregor says with undeniable pride. "He finished in the final three out of a field of 14 pointing dogs." Gregor plans to breed Laddie, a National Champion in the National Red Setter Field Trial Championship (NRSFTC) Futurity. "He's a machine. But trying to get another dog just like Laddie—well, he's a dog of a lifetime, and I'm blessed to have him. "I've always been a bird dog man. I had Labs originally. When I was a kid, I'd walk six miles down the railroad tracks and help at the training grounds. I was brought up in a house full of athletes—my father was a professional soccer player, and I inherited his gift. But my passion was hunting and fishing, and though I played soccer in college, I always came back to the comfort of being in the woods and on the water, and with dogs. Big Jock McCluskey's buffalo plaid, the strength of Tiera fabric, and the freedom and comfort of BraeVal clothing represent the American spirit to Gregor McCluskey. And for this first-generation American of Scottish descent and lover of the great outdoors, that means the world. n
