APRIL 2017 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 17 DACOR REDEFINES POWER AND FINESSE WITH NEW INDUCTION COOKTOP Discovery ™ TouchTop induction cooktop features precise power control Dacor ® , a leading manufacturer of ultra-premium kitchen appliances, unveils its all-new Discovery ™ TouchTop induction cooktop. The sleek black glass unit, which recently received a 2016 GOOD DESIGN ® AWARD, combines signature Dacor technology with timeless aesthetics and master craftsmanship to enhance the cooking experience for the passionate home chef. "These new cooktops feature our latest innovations, including touch control that provides precise power control by simply sliding your finger along the surface," said Dacor President and CEO Chuck Huebner. "This makes it easy to adjust the power on each zone, whether you're simmering a smooth béchamel or need full power for searing ahi tuna." Dacor's application of induction technology is at the core of this cutting-edge cooktop, which heats cookware by magnetic induction instead of a thermal conduction by flame or electric heating element. This direct transfer of heat results in minimal residual heat loss and a more effective, efficient cooking experience. The cooktop's unique "pause" button allows busy home chefs to conveniently pause and restart a zone with a single touch. Upon reactivation, the zone will return to the exact power level at which it was operating when paused. Each cooktop also includes a power boost function to ensure rapid boiling when time is running short for meal preparation. The Discovery TouchTop induction cooktop is available in two sizes: 30" and 36" widths. Both models include five powerful zones—a particularly innovative technical feature in the smaller model. The cooktop features a bridge function on both models which effectively ties two zones together, linking their power settings. This makes the unit ideal for grill or griddle use, and its flat surface allows for easy cleanup. The cooktop also includes advanced safety features. Since the cooktop is activated only by magnetic cookware, the surface will feel cool to the touch, virtually eliminating burn incidents. The unit automatically shuts off if a zone is on and no cookware is detected, and its child lock prevents accidental adjustment of controls. Dacor has been recognized with a 2016 GOOD DESIGN ® AWARD for the TouchTop induction cooktop.
