"I guess he knew someone was try- ing to get me in the business because he asked me how I wanted to get into racing," recalled Roth, sitting in her breakfast nook, her favorite spot in the apartment she shares with her wife Olga and their Miniature Pin- scher, Naya. "He said, 'Please don't tell me you want to win the Kentucky Der- by.' I said, 'No, I'd actually love to do something with the fillies.'" "We had a nice day at the track, but I didn't think anything of it. I got home and [Solis] sent me a follow-up e-mail. I told him I'd love to get into the indus- try, but I'd need financial help from my parents." Solis was determined and flew from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to meet with Roth's parents Larry and Nanci, who were on the West Coast attending an eyewear convention. The bloodstock agent presented his business plan to the Roths and two weeks later, at the Keeneland September sale, Solis and his partner Jason Litt purchased four yearling fillies on their behalf. LNJ Foxwoods was born. Larry Roth is nothing if not a support- ive father. "Jaime was an outstanding athlete growing up," he said. "Playing with the boys on soccer travel teams made her a great competitor. Rachel Alexandra racing against the boys got her very interested in the sport.
