bred Charities of America. "A perfect example is her whole involvement with horse retirement. She really wanted to help horses. She asked Ja- son and I how to help, and Jason is a longtime friend of Dan Rosenberg's, so he referred her to the TCA. All of a sudden, she's on the board. That pret- ty much sums her up." Though Solis and Litt run the show, the Roth family is involved in the deci- sion-making process on purchases and matings. Roth said her parents have become almost as passionate as she is about the racing industry. "My mom loves going to see the hors- es, my dad loves the racing part and I like it all," Roth said with a smile. "They are way more involved than I thought they would be. It's funny because it is all they talk about. It's a breath of fresh air and gives them something now that my dad is retired." Larry Roth agreed. "This has brought us closer together, whether it's travel- ing to races, sales, or making business decisions," he said. Jaime Roth reflected, "I never thought we'd be winning new owner awards or winning two Grade Is. Some people wait 30 years to win a Grade I. What I did know was this: we had surround- ed ourselves with really good peo- ple. I think Alex and Jason are really special people and not just with what they know about horses. I think they are really good people, too. The way we are involved, the way it is managed and the people we have surrounded ourselves with have led to the success. Just winning a race is hard. Winning two Grade Is, two Grade IIIs and stakes races, I couldn't have imagined it. Win- ning a Grade I with a homebred would be the ultimate dream. It would really bring it all full circle." " WHAT I DID KNOW WAS THIS: WE HAD SURROUNDED OURSELVES WITH REALLY GOOD PEOPLE." 19
