ter is omnipresent at Aus-
tralian race meets.
Sidle up close enough to the
most impeccably dressed filly in
the members' enclosure and, more
often than not, Winter's signature
metal insignia can be seen adorn-
ing her headpiece. Much like racing
icons Gai Waterhouse, Chris Waller,
Black Caviar and the superstar
mare Winx, the name Nerida Win-
ter has become synonymous with
the sport of kings.
I catch up for breakfast with the
Australian Turf Club's official milli-
ner the day after the launch of its
2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival, of
which she is an ambassador.
