Chefs Converge to Benefit Carmel Public Librar y Foundation B Y B R E T T W I L B U R T he Harrison Memorial Library and the Park Branch Library in Carmel are two beloved local institutions providing education, resources and entertainment to patrons who make over 112,000 visits per year. Yet few realize that 100 percent of the books, programs, mate- rials, equipment and services are funded by donations made to the Carmel Public Library Foundation. This May 17 at the Sunset Center in Carmel, a food and wine benefit aims to keep the library providing services such as student test prep, a teen lounge, computer services, research assis- tance including genealogy, archives on the local area, community nights and much more. "The Foodie Edition" fundraiser features chefs and authors Nancy Silverton, Ruth Reichl and Evan Kleiman, who will offer live cooking demonstrations, panel discussions and book signings. "Through the generosity of donors small and large, our mission is to keep the doors open and the library relevant and to continue this amazing resource through the support of our community," Executive Director Alexandra Fallon says.
