"Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever." ~ Karen Davison, author, "A Dog's Guide to Humans" Working Dogs BY MICHAEL CHATFIELD PHOTOGRAPHY BY KELLI ULDALL 82 C A R M E L M A G A Z I N E • S P R I N G / S U M M E R 2 0 1 7 STIG A nother rescue dog, Stig, came to Angie Negret through Heading Home Animal Rescue in Santa Cruz. He's named after The Stig, a character in BBC TV's "Top Gear." Stig doesn't live up to his namesake in terms of speed, how- ever. "He actually has a laid back, mellow personality," Negret says. Visiting a CPA's office can be stress- ful for humans. "Stig brings a light- ness to the situation," his owner says. "He loves to sit with clients while they wait. He really puts peo- ple at ease." JAX J ax is one lucky puppy. He's been rescued twice: first by Monterey County Animal Services, then from Animal Friends Rescue Project and Ron and Linda Cosmero . "He's so playful and happy," Ron says. That trait comes in handy: the Cosmeros manage an office building and Jax is a big help. "We give potential tenants the 'Jax test,'" Ron jokes. "If Jax likes them, I like them." Jax gets along swimmingly with all the dogs in the building, especially Stig, the other pup featured on this page. A Heading Home Animal Rescue in Santa Cruz.
