In Debby King's first year as head coach at Memphis in 1996, the Lady Tigers earned an NCAA Regional berth for the first time in school history. Memphis won two tournament titles and finished second at the Conference USA Championships in 1995-96. Freshman Naima Ghilain was named C-USA Freshman of the Year.
