12,000 square foot spa complex. Con-
struction could start in the spring of
2018. After purchasing the Adelphi,
Richbell acquired four parcels along
Washington Street, including the
Bethesda Episcopal Church rectory
built in 1855, another building and
two parking lots. They are all being
integrated into the Adelphi complex.
Roth said he had been investing in
Richbell ventures for around seven
years, predating his move into horse
racing. "I definitely think that Sarato-
ga needs a good hotel," he said. "The
prices that people pay for rooms in
Saratoga, especially during the sum-
mer, in an average hotel are ridic-
ulous. I was playing $500 to $600 a
night last year for a lousy room. Now
you can stay at the Adelphi. Saratoga
is going through a major transforma-
tion and the only thing that it hadn't
gotten recently was a great hotel."
Ducamp arrived in Saratoga Springs
in late 2015 armed with a resume that
shows three-and-a-half decades of ex-
perience in traditional corporate and
luxury hospitality. His mandate from
the Richbell partners was to make the
Adelphi Hotel into something excep-
tional.
"They didn't create a set of plans five
years ago and say, 'this is exactly what
we're going to do,'" he said. "What
they said is 'we're going to build the
best hotel, certainly not only the best
hotel in Saratoga Springs, but per-
haps the best hotel in the Northeast.
