the Victorian hotels in Saratoga and it
certainly deserved being preserved.
That is a long and expensive process
that was aided by state and federal
funds."
The main entrance to the Adelphi
Hotel remains at the center of the
street level, with the kitchen to the
left and Morrissey's on the right. The
glass-enclosed Blue Hen is located
behind the kitchen and lobby next to
the 170-seat ballroom. Most morn-
ings, and when the ballroom is not in
use, a moveable wall will be closed to
turn the front third of the ballroom
into a gathering space.
"It feels like an extension of the
lobby," Ducamp said. "We are calling
it the Drawing Room and it will be set
up with stuffed couches, seats, small
tables. You will be able to walk right
in off the street and sit down. It's open
to the public. The lobby is not overly
sized. We spent a lot of lobby space
on food and beverage, between the
bar and the restaurant. So there is not
as much space for the public to come
in and be at home. You can go into the
Drawing Room, sit down, open up a
laptop, have a meeting, Have a cup of
coffee. There will be beautiful rolling
carts that in the morning will have Vi-
ennoiserie and pastry, lunchtime tar-
tines and sandwiches and desserts. It's
just a place where you can go and hang
out. You don't have to buy anything if
you don't want to. It's your home, as
in the old traditional hotels."
