Getting there, being there:
There are fast, direct trains straight to York
from London King's Cross which take just less
than two hours. It's feasible to walk to the
racecourse in about half an hour but there
are also buses and taxis available regularly
from the station.
There are plenty of places to stay in the city
of York. The Middlethorpe Hall Hotel is ef-
fectively at the end of the straight so is just a
short walk from the course and is very popu-
lar with racegoers, as is the Grange Hotel. If
you have time before racing, stroll into the
city centre and visit the historic York Minster,
which dates back to the 13th Century, and
stop in for tea and cake at Betty's Tea Rooms.
