the health/Welfare of the event horSeS
After years of training and building a
relationship of respect and trust, the
rider's principal concern is the health
and safety of the horse. It is common
for a competitor to pull a horse from
competition because of weather changes.
The horse inspections and the ground
jury also serve to vigilantly protect the
horse's well-being. At any time during
competition, the veterinary commission and
the ground jury may decide to eliminate
a horse from competition. The worldwide
governing organization of the sport, the
Federation Equestre Internationale, and
its American counterpart, US Equestrian
Federation, have created a code of conduct
for their members regarding the welfare
of the horses. The FEI Code of Conduct is
observed at the 2017 Dutta Corp. Fair Hill
International.
WaS that a WhiStle?
Stewards supervise the cross-country course
and whistles are blown to warn spectators to
stand clear when a horse is approaching. Pay
attention when you hear a whistle.

must be taken. Please see that children are with
