If Barbados did not have a racetrack, it would still
be a wonderful place. It's a country where sunshine
is omnipresent, the people are friendly, a cobalt-col-
ored sea is irresistible and there's no shortage of
luxury dining and hotel/resort accommoda-
tions. But there is a racetrack, an histor-
ic one named Garrison Savannah that
hosts the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold
Cup, a race so rich in tradition that it is
nothing less than a nation-
al celebration. Add the Gold Cup to
the mix and Barbados is a per-
fect destination for anyone
who loves great weather, the
