CK: My grandparents had a pony
farm in the 50's, 60's and 70's and
they had roadster ponies which are
like miniature trotters. You get to
wear silks when you show them, so
I had silks that were bright purple
with scarlet and white and had a big
K in the middle in a circle. They were
pretty loud. I think I scared some of
the other entries.
CK: For guys, I think, it's pretty clas-
sic. Wear a great snap brim Pana-
ma. For the ladies, there's a couple
of great milliners. That's one of the
great things that has trickled down
from horse racing to mainstream
fashion is wearing these great look-
ing hats. Arturo, who is in LA, who
does amazing hats. Philip Tracy is
another one. Those two are the ones
that really stand out.
TDN: What color design would you
use for racing silks?
TDN: Do you have a favorite designer you
go to for your Derby hat? Or do you like to
create your own?
CK: I do love me some bourbon - so
until they can get some liquor in that
fudge I'm going to go with the Mint
Julep!
TDN: Devon Fudge or Kentucky Derby
Mint Julep?
