28 CM 2017 | Local Ministry e new position was accepted by Dr. Dan DeShong, the retired owner of a regional chiropractic clinic who was troubled by our nation's moral decay and wanted to do something about it. In an internet search for answers to this perpetual question, Dr. Dan found the Capitol Ministries® website. ere, Dr. Dan read about our ministries and became excited about our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena throughout the world, and decided to become involved in Civic- Reach®. Immediately aer being named Re- gional Director for the Sacramento area of California, Dr. Dan organized a Civic- Reach® recruitment conference to find other committed Christians who want to establish Bible teaching, evangelis- tic, discipleship ministries to political leaders in their local governments. Since then, he has begun working with the new volunteers. Dr. Dan also visited churches in Sac- ramento neighborhoods to recruit lay leaders or pastors. One of the first part- nerships Dr. Dan forged was with his church, River City Christian, a 100-year- old church with 2,000 members. "e leaders of River City Christian wholeheartedly supported becoming in- volved because Capitol Ministries® and C APITOL MINISTRIES®' EFFORT TO PARTNER WITH NEIGHBORHOOD CHURCHES to take the Gospel to local leaders in the 40,000 incorporated city halls and county governments of America ramped up this year when the first Regional Director was name for CivicReach®.
