ore than 11,500 guests turned out to explore the
latest offerings from 160 premium furnishings
brands on display within the "California cool"
indoor/outdoor venue of the Barker Hangar. This year's fair
added new exhibitors to the roster including Koncept,
Foscarini, M2L, Neutra Furniture Collection by VS America,
Croft House, PELLE, Brizo, TRUE Residential, Monogram,
Cambria, Bauformat USA and many others.
"We were proud to add such important new exhibitors
to our 2017 line-up," said Troy Hanson, co-founder of
WestEdge. "In addition to experiencing significant growth
with international brands and manufacturers, the
MADE:MODERN section, which highlights independent
designers and makers, grew considerably this year in
partnership with Design Milk. The 2017 fair was completely
sold-out which is a testament to the growing recognition
of Los Angeles as a center for premium contemporary
design."
For the second year in a row, WestEdge Design Fair's
opening night party raised funds for Los Angeles Ronald
McDonald House. More than 1,200 guests celebrated the
evening with cocktails, fine food, networking and the
opportunity to preview the fair before the weekend
crowds. The evening also featured an 'Art of Trave' silent
auction in partnership with Installation Magazine and
Samsonite. 25 artists including the likes of Bisco Smith,
Hektad, Made of Hagop, Miki Yokoyama, Morley, Rickey
Watts, Ruben Rojas, Yelena York, and several others
teamed up to create one-of-a-kind custom-designed
Samsonite luggage pieces.
In addition to products on display, 65 thought leaders
and tastemakers shared their expertise and discussed a
variety of design and architecture-related topics with a
robust educational schedule. Programming highlights
included the DIEM Talks Design symposium curated by
Frances Anderton and Mallery Roberts Morgan and the
launch of DesignLIVE LA, a day of panel discussions
hosted by California Home + Design Magazine. Other
weekend conversations provided guests with behind-the-
scene views of the craft of set decorating and trends in
home entertainment and augmented reality.
