of universal design at Leading
think-tank for building education
Duravit has partnered with the National Building
Museum to provide potential design solutions for the
evolving needs of American households. Focused on
highlighting the advantages of bathroom technology for
an aging and diversifying population, Duravit will provide
a variety of products for the National Building Museum's
upcoming exhibition, Making Room: Housing for a
Changing America. Making Room examines an array of
potential design solutions for the shifting demographics
and lifestyles of modern-day households. The exhibit will
be located in Washington, D.C., and run from November
18, 2017 to September 16, 2018.
"Duravit is proud to be a partner with the National
Building Museum for this exhibit," explained Duravit USA
president Tim Schroeder. "We hope that our forward-
thinking approach in the bathroom will help shed light on
the housing issues that face American homeowners today,
and how they can be answered with thoughtful design."
Making Room will include as its centerpiece a
1,000-square-foot house called "The Open House"
designed by Italian architect Pierliugi Colombo/Clei. The
exhibit will be a configurable space, utilizing "smart
technology, movable walls, and multifunctional furniture"
