farm406 50 Farmers now have access to a new tool that makes farming even more precise. In the last decade, GPS and auto steer have given the farmer more efficiency. Now Agellum™ provides the newest solution for driving precision to the next level. Agellum™ is an advanced farm- software system developed by CHS for conventional grain growers that combines agronomy products, services and technology in one platform. History of CHS, Developer of Agellum™ A Fortune 100 company, CHS has met farmers' needs since 1931. Organized as Farmers Union Central Exchange, CHS is the result of mergers with numerous farmer-owned cooperatives. The company later became Cenex, a name taken from a combination of the last two words of the former name. In 1998, Cenex merged with Harvest States Cooperatives to become Cenex Harvest States. The corporation became CHS in 2003 with its subsidiary, Cenex, becoming the energy brand name. Besides fuel production and distribution through Cenex, CHS activities involve grain merchandising and transportation, fertilizer services, animal feed production and sales, farm supply, and ag consultation. It was only natural that CHS would develop Agellum™, a powerful tool harnessing the collective power of data and analytics all in one place. Using Agellum™ for Farm Management Data can be overwhelming, but it can also be a powerful resource. "We developed Agellum™ with our grower customers in mind," said Christian Rohloff, CHS Regional YieldPoint®™ Specialist. "This powerful tool enables real-time collaboration between growers, agronomists, and others to improve on-farm agronomic and economic decision making to ensure the best results." When the farmer sits down with Agellum™ the first time, he can start fresh or input historical performance data, including soil elements, grain yield, and financial records. From the beginning and going forward, Agellum™ gathers, tracks, connects and displays equipment data in one format. To be specific, it has the ability to upload data directly from various monitors on seeders, planters, sprayers, spreaders and harvest equipment. Next, weather, including precipitation, and other variables are layered into the software. The farmer then uses this information to determine various scenarios, including different crop rotations; various crop protections, Agellum™ has been developed for grain growers.
