he U. S. Capitol Historical Society presented the 2017
Freedom Award to Lin-Manuel Miranda, the award-
winning playwright, composer, lyricist, and performer of
Hamilton: An American Musical. Miranda has also been
instrumental in the creation of the Hamilton Education
Program, which works with high schools throughout the
country to integrate primary documents from the Found-
ing Era into their curriculum. See page 50 for story and
more photos.
