Located halfway between Malta and Saco, the historic point of interest also marks the turnoff for Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs. "I was struck, at the time," says Rogers, that a plaque referred to the stones as having, " 'been considered sacred,' by the tribes who lived there. I wondered who had decided they 'were' sacred'. Past tense." Inspired, he wrote a song entitled, "Sleeping Buffalo," on an album he calls "Small Victories."
